Davis Homes is a local, third-generation, family owned builder of single-family homes. The predecessor of the company was founded over 50 years ago when, in 1951, Charles R. Davis and his father, O.E. Davis, began building detached garages. A New Town Builder 
The
Ryland Homes' story began in 1967, when founder James P. Ryan left his family's company, Ryan Homes, to build homes in the nation's first master-planned community of Columbia, MD. He and his partner, Bob Gaw, created The James P. Ryan Company and built 48 homes that first year.

Nearly three years and 700 homes later, Ryland got its official name when Jim Ryan spotted a banner that read "Maryland," with the "M" and "A" covered. The combination of Ryan and Maryland seemed like a perfect choice for the name of his company.

By 1971, Ryland had expanded from Columbia into new suburban communities around Baltimore and Reston, Va., and had enjoyed considerable success in Houston. Sales approached $30 million and the company wanted to raise cash to enter new markets.

The first public stock offering was made later that year, raising $4.6 million in equity, and enabling Ryland to enter the Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth and Philadelphia markets.

During its first decade, Ryland built more than 10,000 homes and increased its earnings from $46,000 to $4.7 million.

1992 Paul Jr. purchases his father's original company, Paul E. Estridge Homes.

1998 Estridge becomes the first Indiana builder to win the National Housing Quality Award, the most prestigious award in the homebuilding industry. Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith declares October 30th, “Estridge Day."

1999 Centennial opens, the largest community ever by Estridge. Modeled after a small New England village with the spirit of connecting neighbors with each other.

2000 Estridge introduces the HomeLife Maintenance & Reliability Program, becoming the only builder in the country providing homeowners with 3 years of scheduled maintenance and service.

2002 Estridge celebrates 35 years building homes in the Indianapolis area.

2003 Estridge builds our 6,000th home!

2005 Achieved 98% Willingness Referral Rate from an independent survey of Estridge homeowners.

As The Drees Company celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2003, a little house in Wilder, Kentucky, stood in tribute to craftsmanship that endures.

In 1928, Theodore Drees built that house after he made his way from northwestern Germany to North America via a long stay in Brazil and a six-week steamship ride. Theodore and four friends lived in the house until it sold, and Theodore Drees Builders was born.

Theodore’s son, Ralph, joined the business in 1959 after serving his country in the Army. Ralph, like his father, would build only the best for his customers. It was Ralph’s philosophy of diversification and industry leadership that took the company into new markets as far away as Dallas, Texas and beyond.

Steve and Stan Schreckengast founded Citation Homes in Lafayette, Indiana in 1978.  In 1996, Stan's son Jason joined the company.
